2 months...

Last Thursday (I know, I know, I'm a whole week late), Hudson turned two months old. I'm not sure how that happened so fast, but right before our very eyes he has gone from a tiny little newborn, to looking more like an actual baby. At the very beginning of October we had to go back to the doctor because his "reflux"wasn't getting any better, in fact it seemed worse. At that appointment he weighed 11 lbs 1oz and we decided to put me on a dairy and soy free diet thinking he could be allergic or intolerant to one or both of those. Three weeks later he seems like a whole new baby! He is much much happier, sleeping a whole lot better, and almost completely pain free! Although it makes my eating a little more difficult and A LOT less enjoyable, it is definitely worth the sacrifice to have such a happier baby!

So on Monday we went to his 2-month check-up and he weighed in at a whopping 12lbs 4oz and is now 24 inches long! --clearly all the vomiting isn't affecting him too badly. :) I think he takes after his dad in the social realm. The past two weeks all we have seen are tons and tons of smiles and short little laughs. He coos and "talks" constantly and is starting to try to bat at the toys that dangle above his head....It is so sweet to see his little personality coming out. His latest new trick is crying and screaming like he is STARVING, and then, once given the opportunity to eat, he refuses and insists on smiling, cooing, and laughing at you. Although very cute, it makes for LONG drawn out feedings. :)

It took me awhile to get these pictures because he was super grumpy after getting shots and I was really hoping to catch a bunch of him smiling. Unfortunately, he wasn't willing to perform and I wasn't willing to let him get any bigger before posting 2 month pictures.

 These have been the best two months of my life, and even though I hate the thought of him getting bigger, I can't wait to get to experience every stage of his little life!

Smiles and Coos...

This video is a little long and I am basically just telling him over and over that I'm going to give him a kiss. BUUUUT, it is the best video I have yet to document his constant smiles, coos, and semi-laughs. So, for my own sake, I must post it here. :) (It was a little challenging for me at first to keep the phone on him so please forgive the constant camera movement!)

Wild hair!

Even though he has lost a ton of hair since he was born, it is still a challenge to keep under control!

Finally getting some real smiles!

Hudson has been smiling a ton over the past week or so. Unfortunately, I have yet to capture some really great ones with the camera. This video shows just a glimpse of his most recent accomplishment. (Sorry so long for just one smile!)

Little buddies...

My friend Danielle's sister-in-law bought these outfits for both her little boy, Brock, and Hudson. Brock is about 7 weeks older than Hudson but they weigh just about the same. (Hudson apparently is a tank) :) Brock was a trooper for the photo shoot...always full of smiles! Hudson, on the other hand didn't seem to think it was quite as fun...

The picture below looks EXACTLY like Garrett's baby pictures!

By this time, Hudson was more than done, but we still had to get a few more. :)

I'm only including this picture because it is the first one that I've ever been able to see a hint of myself in...maybe I'm just trying really hard and he still just looks like Garrett. :)

Thankfully we ended on a slightly happier note.

I sure hope these boys grow up to be good good friends just like their mamas!

Poor baby...

This picture makes me laugh. He is either terrified of Garrett...or terrified of me :). 

...or he is six weeks old and makes really weird faces. 

I am trying to get some videos to upload so stay tuned for those! We are getting some pretty adorable smiles lately so as soon as I catch them on camera I'll share. :)

Six weeks old.

Hudson...

You are now six weeks old. Bye bye newborn jammies. And newborn sweats. And newborn socks. And newborn hair. And newborn diapers. How is that possible? Each day I try to make sure I soak up every. single. moment. because it is easy to see how fast they will all slip by. Last week you started sleeping in your own room. I had no idea how sad I would feel to no longer have you right next to our bed. I almost caved (well, actually, your dad almost caved) and went and scooped you up out of that big old crib, but you were sleeping so soundly, doing such a good job with the transition that I decided to just let you be. 

Lately you have started cooing more and more. We are hoping to see smiles in the next few weeks. You have started noticing objects hanging above your head and have become fascinated by the little elephants above your swing. Most days I just want you to stay little forever, even though I know that each new stage will be wonderful to see. I just want to be able to remember everything. I don't want to forget what you looked like when you were first born. Or when we brought you home from the hospital. Or when you slept in your little napper. Or when you had more hair on your head. Or when you had even skinnier little legs. I know it is impossible to remember it all, but I hope that even when life seems stressful and overwhelming and we get distracted by silly things that don't matter, I hope that we will always try to enjoy you today and the place where we're at...because it is going to pass by way too quickly.

I am so thankful for you. I am so thankful that God blessed me with such an incredible little boy, and feel so honored that He entrusted your little life to us. I pray that He helps us to be the kind of parents that will make Him proud, and that our lives would be lived in a way that brings Him glory. On Sunday, our pastor preached a sermon on how we often feel inadequate to do the things that God is calling us to do. When I think about trying to raise a child to be Godly and righteous in the world we live in that is precisely how I feel...completely inadequate. But thankfully we serve a mighty God who will help your dad and I along the way. We will never be perfect, but I can promise you that we will do our very best to raise you right. 

I am so glad you are here. So blessed to have you in my life. So blessed to be called your mama. I love you more than I could have ever imagined. 

Thank you Jesus for our precious little boy.
